Last night I watched one of the best and worst football games I have seen in a long time. I enjoy a great players who dominate their sports. I do not however enjoy when those players do not get recognized for their great efforts. Last night Ndumakong Suh the defensive tackle from the University of Nebraska dominated Colt McCoy and the Texas Longhorns.

Suh’s first name is pronounced en-dom-ah-ken and he was really close to Colt McCoy last night. Texas would end up winning on a game winning field goal and did all but solidify Colt McCoy’s Heisman trophy award (best player in college football). However Suh has been a dark-horse candidate for most of the season and is ultimately and underdog (even more reason for me to like him) for being a defensive player. Last night Suh sacked Colt McCoy 4 and a half times. He led Nebraska last night with 11 tackles which he made 7 of them for a loss.

For those who are not terribly familiar with how good this is, 4.5 sacks is a great season for most players. Suh had 4.5 sacks against a Heisman quality QB, against the 2nd best team in the country, on national television. Suh was against a double team of offensive linemen the entire game and made 7 plays in the backfield. This was an incredible performance. Heisman winning quality.

However Nebraska’s offense failed to score any points, mustered just a hair over 100 yards, and lost the game despite Suh’s domination on defense. Thanks to Colt McCoy for the quote of the day saying of Suh’s continual pressure, “Yeah, we became friends.”

Getting hugged and drug to the ground a handful of times will do that to man I guess.
