New Hollister Music

Being a manager requires that I am at work at least forty hours a week. While “working” these hours I have the pleasure of listening to some really good and some really bad, and some really bleh music. Hollister in midst of economic related cut backs has taken away the choose a song on the touch tunes. This really has no effect on me, I barely got around to picking songs to care anymore anyway. Now there’s a random playlist going on all day, that usually has some serious High School Musical 3 stuff going on. (last two days 0 HSM3 plays, please God let them be done) Anyway the same 20 or so songs play in order now. Luckily I actually enjoy more than one of them.
First I heard the song “Faith” by Goldfinger (look it up on myspace or itunes) but I found the lyrics very interesting, and it just sounds good.
Second, I never ever really got into the Newsboys, even while I was going through my Christian music period, but there song “Secret Kingdom” is good. I like it. A lot.
Third, “Promise” by Anberlin is also very good. The song is just different for me and I like it.
The problem with these songs is that they are all likely Christian music bands, and or they aren’t high up beat in your face Hollister style. A nice change of pace for me, but what is Hollister doing? Did the guys at home office in their Abercrombie track jackets all go on vacation? Or do they decide that during a down economy doing things more for the customer instead of the “us > you attitude” might sell a few more tank tops.
Maybe, I guess if they have me install more lights in the next few weeks, dress all the maniquinns in parkas, and change out the gift cards to something less “sexual” then I would wonder. Until then I’ll just enjoy the different pace of music and go on and pretend nothing else is going on with their “marketing”
Other songs to pay attention to, The Killers “Human”, We Shot the Moon “Water’s Edge”, Plain White T’s “1,2,3,4″ (I know its a cheesy song, but yeah) and I’m starting to grow on the Tahiti 80, but don’t tell anyone. If Hollister would only bring back some Blink 182. Or Blink 182 would come back and then put their new stuff on the Hollister list. Their lyrics are usually more appropriate than what I’m hearing. No joke.
The fact that our site pulls up pretty quickily if you type in Hollister music, in no way* inspired me to write another post about it six months later.
*By no way I mean, very likely.

I work at a Hollister store….definetly agree with you on the HSM repeating over…but thankfully it has stopped with the newer music since this post was made. Now it’s Plain White T’s over and over.

I’ve started measuring how long I’ve been working by where we are in the playlist.
Thankfully I can stand having music playing over and over again, but I disagree with the HSM stuff. I liked it.

and yeah, Betty’s One sucks, especially on the weekdays when no one’s in there.

Dude, im a store manager @ hollister and i HATE the change. Every day the same 5 songs over and over makes me want to shoot myself. I miss the 50 something songs we could choose. BRING BACK THE CAB!!!

Hahahaha dude i work at the one in miami. I thought i was the only one laughing at all these things. I decided to make a mix CD with Tune out in the mix, and play the song while we fold after hours, im going to see how bad they are going to hate me for it lol.

Ok, about the “Christian” music. I have a feeling there are some religious nut cases complaining about stores “sexual” looks. It obvious that out lovely “Christian” media is getting their way. The fat cats running this company know that whatever they do, teens will do. Teenagers are impressionable. So, this rings a bell in religious propagandists! They fight the company and get them to play some crappy religious crap so it will “convince” teenagers to be “Christian” or “good” per say. Its sounds unbelievable, but WHY would a sexual teen clothing store start playing religious crap? SOMEONE SUED! Its sounds unbelievable, but these people will do anything to convert people to their cult.

You are a fucking idiot. No one sued. Some christian artists have good songs that aren’t about god. I guarantee there are songs by bands that were christian that you like and didn’t even know what religion they were. it’s 2009. sounds like you have the self esteem issues about what your “image” is, at least hollister knows, and all of the chicks you wish you could hook up with shop there.
