Hollister Music
By Jordan | March 27th, 2008 | Category: Archives | 242 commentsSo I work at Hollister for 45-50 hours a week and get to listen to the Hollister collection of music for 90% of those hours. The nice thing is that Hollister seems to be ahead of the curve in picking music that isn’t big yet, but soon catches on. Unfortunately for these bands and Hollister these bands still suck, and I really believe music is washing out and eventually something or someone will bring something ever so slightly different to the stage and make ears happy again. Cause right now its almost all ‘emo’ music and they won’t allow their ears to be happy or any part of themselves really to be happy. Anyway of the tolerable (not awesome by any means, but I can handle listening to it) music right now is from The Bravery, 2nd Day Crush, I Hate Kate, Vampire Weekend, Zox, Bloc Party, and a few others. There are some obvious likes in there as well (Angels and Airwaves, Motion City Soundtrack, MxPx) but they don’t count cause well they’re likely on their way out of the Hollister jukebox.
There is one song that sticks in my head and I find it really cocky and clever and catchy. Its ‘Suspicious Character’ by the Blood Arm. I can’t believe I didn’t write it first.

haha i work at hollister too, a lot of the music is pretty irritating after a while, but i like suspicious character too! and ultra-high by paulson, and i have to admit, the new weezer song.

Its not as bad, you have to admit if you work there. especially when they turn the music off to close and have those gay fans making noises every sec. Plus i rather listen to that then my boss or Little teen girls all day.
i work at hollister too and have been for the past 2yrs, i love the music, but i do hate when we close and the music is off and all you here is the old fans, lol but i still come in every day…

theres a song they play at hollister thats fast pasted, vocals by a girl (sounds like paramore/Veronicas) and the lyrics go something like… a pause in the song then.. “and yooooouuu, you’re so cliche!”… and at the end of the chrous goes “Whoooooaaa!”

about the HSM3 thing, I think there’s been a problem with the jukebox because I work at hollister and the screen is frozen on a list of like 10 albums, and the same songs have been playing over and ovefr and over again. i don’t think it’s requests. my manager thinks home office froze the playlist for some reason.
the playlist isnt frozen, i guess home office wants to make the playlist smaller for the holidays. so now were stuck with shitty music until they decide we can have the rest back.

OK this is a stretch.. but when I was working last week before the reset the jukebox to HSM songs, there was this song that was fun and rocky and talked about a girl and it would build up and pause then the guys in the band would all go “ooooohhhhh” and that we ohhh would have a falling tone… it was so catchy and I was wondering if anyone remembers it? even if you just remember more of the lyrics.. lol thanks

lauren, I also heard the exact same song in Hollister today and didn’t make it to the jukebox in time to get the song’s name. The song begins with a piano intro and the guy repeats “This is me” 3 or 4 times, followed by “so take it off for me” and “When you faint I fall” like two times.
I’ve been trying to find it for an hour, as typing the lyrics into google only pulls up that cheap Demi Lovato song. it’s driving me crazy, so if someone could help me, I would really appreciate it!

With that I’d guess its ‘Sunshine’ by Stellar Kart. But that’s a guess, and it was taken off touchtunes a month or so ago in my store. I have no idea if the stores play lists are consistent.
