I’m Sorry Those Jeans Don’t Fit
By Jordan | October 15th, 2007 | Category: Archives | No Comments »After two weeks of Hollister I have come to figure out two things.
1. Hollister is brilliant at marketing.
2. I love how they do it.
First of all, if you are thinking at all right now, you may be trying to think of the last advertisement you seen from A&F or Hollister. Well stop trying to think, because they don’t advertise. These stores have excluded themselves from the world and become their own secret club. However its not really secret cause anyone can go to a mall and shop there. It’s almost like fight club, you have rules on how nobody can find out about fight club, however each night the basement got bigger crowds. Daily (hourly on weekends) I get asked why we don’t make bigger clothes or have bigger sizes, or why our shirts are so tight around the waist, etc.
Here’s the reason. They don’t want fat and ugly people wearing their clothes. And why would they? You see a group of people wearing A&F and Hollister clothes and you also notice that they aren’t ripping at the seams and ugly, you naturally think, wow, look at all those good looking people wearing these clothes. So what do you do? You either try to be like them or rebel and do you own thing. Luckily for these stores, America itself is a consumer whore and people buy the clothes. Unless of course, they can’t fit into them. And I’m sorry if you can’t fit into the clothes, its not my fault, its not Hollister’s fault, its nobody’s fault except your own. Stop eating so much and exercise daily. It works. (If you’re seven feet tall, you’re just out of luck. Go play basketball and make millions then make your own clothing line)
Of course I don’t speak for Hollister, I have no idea what their real scheme is. However I think its great, and if companies stopped making clothes for fat people, people would have one more reason to exercise and live healthy lives. Because fat is, 9 times out of 10, not a healthy way of life.
